In Fall 2022, the Faculty of Science launched a university-wide course titled FSCI 198: Climate Crisis and Climate Actions. This course, together with the module Creating a Brighter Future: Sustainability at McGill, developed by the McGill Office of Sustainability, are two new opportunities for undergraduates to learn about the climate crisis and get involved in taking action.
An exciting and unique aspect of FSCI 198 is the integration of many different viewpoints. As Dr. Diane Dechief, Course Director and Science Communications Specialist, noted, “Early on in the development process, we were aware that none of us knows everything about the climate crisis. We had many meetings and conversations, but we thought that students would only have hope if they could hear as many different perspectives and solutions as possible.”
