Guidelines for submitting a post*

We welcome submissions from anyone who is involved or interested in teaching and learning.
- Topic
Write about anything related to higher education. For example:
- Reflections on a teaching strategy you tried (if you’re an instructor)
- Reflections on a particular learning experience (if you’re a student)
- Good news at McGill or in higher education in general
- Controversies at McGill or in higher education in general
- Books or films that have influenced your thinking about teaching and learning
- Teaching and learning spaces—physical and virtual—that have influenced your teaching or learning experience
- Style
Blog posts should be written in an informal, easy-to-read style. Consult McGill’s Web Services Style guide toolkit for tips on:
- Writing for the web
- Tone and voice
- Language guidelines
- Diversity and inclusion
- Length
Write a post anywhere from 250 to 1250 words long.
- Title
Begin the post with a short title that reflects the content of the post.
- Images
Our blog posts use images that are free for non-commercial use, such as those with Creative Commons licenses. If you wish to include your own image, it must be:
- high-quality
- minimum 1440 pixels wide
- free for non-commercial use
- free of text
Include the source where you got the image (e.g., a link to a website). Indicate a photo credit if applicable. Clipart will not be accepted.
A WordPress account is required for us to publish your post. If you don’t have one, you will need to create a WordPress account; let us know if you would like assistance.
